1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We also use related technologies such as browser local storage and device identifiers. Together we call these “cookies” in this Policy. They let a service remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in securely, and understand how the service is used.
2. The categories of cookies we use
| Category | What it does | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, sign-in sessions, fraud prevention, load balancing and remembering your cookie choices | Not required — the service cannot run without them |
| Preference | Remembers settings such as language, corridor/country and interface state | Not required, but you can clear them |
| Analytics | Aggregated, privacy-respecting measurement of how pages are used so we can improve them | Required — off until you opt in |
| Marketing | Measures campaign effectiveness and limits repeat messaging | Required — off until you opt in |
3. Cookies on the authenticated portals
When you sign in to a Sankofa Trade portal, strictly necessary cookies and secure local storage maintain your session, protect against cross-site request forgery, and remember interface preferences such as whether the navigation rail is collapsed. These are essential to a secure signed-in experience and cannot be switched off while you use the portal.
4. Third-party cookies
Some functions rely on regulated third parties — for example, embedded identity-verification or payment flows. Where these set cookies, they do so under their own privacy and cookie notices, which we surface at the point of use. We keep third-party cookies to the minimum needed to deliver the function. 5. How to control cookies
- Use our cookie preference control (where shown) to opt in or out of analytics and marketing cookies at any time.
- Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies — note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and security features.
- Use your device’s privacy controls to reset or limit advertising identifiers.
Your choices are stored so we can honour them on future visits. Clearing your cookies will also clear your saved preferences, so we will ask again.
6. More information and changes
For how we handle the personal data associated with cookies, see our Privacy Policy. We may update this Cookie Policy as our technologies or the law change, and will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date.
